Luis Falcón Martínez de Marañón

Partner / Director

Luis Falcón, co-founder of Intelligent Coast, has served as co-Director since the company's inception in 2005. He has been a professor of Intelligent Coast ASSC's Master Program "New Tourism Strategies - New Territorial Structures " at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia School of Professional and Executive Development , Barcelona since 2007, and co-director and professor of Master Program "Tourism - New Territories: Management and Design of New Tourist Territories " at the Centro Metropolitano para la Arquitectura Sostenible / FPC-UPC, Mexico from 2009 - 2010.

Mr. Falcón has also been: the Research Director at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, Barcelona from 2003-2006; Professor in the Master Program at the Institute for Advanced Architecture Catalonia, Foundation Polytecnic of Catalonia (UPC) from 2002-2006, and again in 2010; Professor in the Master Program at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zürich) with Josep Louis Mateo, the Chair of Architecture and Design at ETH Zurich, in 2003; visiting professor at the Faculty of Architecture of Zagreb from 2006-2007;

He has given more than 50 lectures in countries such as Slovenia, Croatia, Mexico, Korea, Japan, Dominique Republic, Brazil, Switzerland, Netherlands and Italy and many Spanish cities, as well as an invited lecturer professor at University of  Western Australia; International University of Catalonia / Universidad Internacional de Cataluña , Barcelona; Bauhaus Institute, Dessau, Germany; Berlage Institute, Rotterdam; Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain.

Mr. Falcón has published a many articles and reports on Tourism, cities, creative society, talent and complex urban models. Luis Falcón has a Masters in Architecture "Urban Strategies" at Berlage Institute, Netherlands, and a Degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria University, Spain.

Silvia Banchini

Partner / Director

Silvia Banchini, co-founder of Intelligent Coast, has served as co-Director since the company's inception in 2005. She is a research fellow at IN3-Internet Interdisciplinary Institute, UOC, within ONE Group - Observatory of New Economy, Barcelona, 2010. She has been a professor of Intelligent Coast ASSC's Master Program "New Tourism Strategies - New Territorial Structures " at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia School of Professional and Executive Development , Barcelona since 2007, and co-director and professor of Master Program "Tourism - New Territories: Management and Design of New Tourist Territories " at the Centro Metropolitano para la Arquitectura Sostenible / FPC-UPC, Mexico from 2009 - 2010. She has been a researcher at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia for "Hypercatalonia: Territories of Research" Project, Barcelona 2002-2003 and for Media House Project with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.), Boston 2001.

Her work has been exhibited at Design Hub (Dhub)Barcelona, Spain, International Biennale of Architecture in Rotterdam, Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA), Spain; Mercat de les Flors Theater, Barcelona, Spain; Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona, Spain; Circulo de Bellas Artes, Madrid, Spain; Bienal de las artes de Valencia, Spain; Sala Borse, Bologna, Italy.

Mrs. Banchini has written and published articles on tourism, cities, urban resilience, talent, mobility and knowledge society. She has been working as an architect and urban planner since 1999.

Silvia Banchini has Degree on Advanced Studies on Urban Planning and Knowledge Society, at UOC Barcelona, Spain, 2008. M.Arch in History Art Architecture and City Program at ETSAB-UPC, Barcelona 2002. Degree on Architecture and Urban Planning from the University of Florence, Italy, 2000.

Manuel Gausa

President of Intelligent Coast ASSC

Architect specialized in Projects, Urban Planning and History. Member of the Editing Team of the Review “Quaderns d’Arquitectura i Urbanisme”, published by Catalonia Architecture Association,from 1985 to 1991. Director of the Review “Quaderns d’Arquitectura i Urbanisme” until 2000. Director of the Review “C”.Founder of Actar Architecture and Actar Publishing, Professor at ETSAB-UPC, from 1995 to 1999. Between 1996 and 2000, member of Scientific Committee at the XIX Congress UIA Barcelona’96. Member of the Managing Team of ESARQ-UIC at the Escola Superior d’Arquitectura at the Universitat International of Catalonia . Co-Founder of AxE, firm specialized in sustainable design. Co-director of Metápolis, platform of Advanced Architecture in 1998. In 2000, Director of the Post-graduate Program of Advanced Architecture and Digital Cities at the FPC. In 2003, President of Scientific Board at the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia. 2003, member of Scientific Board at the European Institute of Design (IED) and Advisor for Sustainable (CADS). Author of articles and publications. Invited teacher and speaker at many national and international Universities. He is currently President of Intelligent Coast Cultural Association.

Gary Thoulouis

Head of Marketing & Sales

Gary Thoulouis is also currently a founding partner of an international consulting agency based in Barcelona. Prior to this he has been the Director of Online Marketing for the Eurostars luxury hotel chain (a part of the Hotusa Group), the Director of Marketing at Private Media Group, Inc., and the Director of Marketing and Events at Opium Group.

Mr. Thoulouis has sat on the marketing board for the City of Miami and co-chaired the Miami Beach Nightlife Industry Council. He has also work as a columnist for several publications in Miami, New York, Spain and Hamburg. Mr. Thoulouis has a bachelor degree in Journalism from Bernard. M. Baruch University, New York City.

Jorge López

Head of Technical Production

Jorge López served as the Head of Technical Production at Intelligent Coast since 2009.

Mr. López has a degree in Urban Architecture at Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, Santiago, Dominican Republic and Master of Architecture in Housing and Urban Planning at Escola Tècnica Superior d'Arquitectura de Barcelona - UNIVERSITAT POLITÈCNICA DE CATALUNYA (Superior Technical School of Architecture – Polytechnic University of Catalonia).

He is part of the Intelligent Coast Group team since 2008.

Yoel Abreu

Head of Product & Technology Development

Yoel Abreu is a profesor of GIS Cartography and GPS Mobile Systems Integration and Corporate Implementation at the Superior School of Technical Studies of the Canary Islands / la Escuela Superior de Estudios Técnicos de Canarias (ESETEC). Mr. Abreu is also a Researcher and Coordinator of the Project Diagnósticos zonales y sectoriales de oportunidad, empleo y autoempleo en Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Mr Abreu is an expert in Geographic information systems (GIS) and Territorial Analysis. Ha para la ingeniería Auding como director de proyectos SIG. He is the author of the book, La aplicación de los sistemas de información geográfica al estudio de localización comercial: El caso de Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Yoel Abreu has a degree in Urban Geography at The University of Laguna and a Masters in Territorial & Urban Planning at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.

Laura Cantarella

Photographer

Trained ad an architect, she's a landscape and architecture photographer.

Her works has been shown in, between others: Chelsea Art Museum, New York; Palazzo delle esposizioni, Roma; Fundaciò Espais d'Art Contemporani, Girona; II Architecture Biennal Rotterdam; Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona; Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona. She's one of the winners of Terna Prize for Contemporary art 01.

She's actually professor at Politecnico di Torino, Architecture Faculty. She has been teaching in Institutes and Universities in Italy and Spain since 2001. Together with Lucia Giuliano, she leads Landform, a ladscape oriented research platform. She's Phd candidate at Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona.

At present she lives and work between Turin and Barcelona.

Juan Alfonso Zapata

Photographer, Architect and Urban Planner

Graduated as architect in 1998 from the PUCMM, Dominican Republic. In 2003 receives a Master in Architecture and Spatial Planning from the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam, and in 2010 a specialization diploma from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya in Land Policy and Housing.

12 years of professional experience include advisory work for public administrations and private investors in the tourism and real estate sector; consulting rural communities in project development and implementation; and design and assessment of urbanization strategies and projects.

He has taught and lectured in related seminars and workshops in Latin America, Europe and Asia.

Angels Solers

Head of Corporate Image

Prior to working at Intelligent Coast Angel Solers was a member of the graphic design team at La Vanguardia and at the Pati Núñez Communication Agency. She was a member of the editorial team at Actar and the Estudio de Diseño Internacional de Prensa Cases (International Design Studio of Prensa Cases) of Barcelona. While at La Vanguardia, Ms. Solers also collaborated on the production of the Vanguardia weekly magazine and dossier. Ms. Soler has worked on graphic design for the Ajuntament de Barcelona (Barcelona City Government), KRTU, i Disseny Hub Barcelona, and has given clases on graphic design and data visualisation at Escola de Art i Disseny de Terrassa y Escola (Art & Design School of Terrassa)and ELISAVA Escola Superior de Disseny—Universitat Pompeu Fabra (ELISAVA Superior School of Design –Pompeu Fabra University) of Barcelona. Angel Solers studied Graphic Design at the Escuela Superior de Diseño Eina (EINA School of Design & Art) of Barcelona,
